Should I stay or should I go?

Hi! :) As I sit here watching tv I can't help but think about the fact that I have to go back to school here in a week. Part of me is so ready to go back and see all my lovely friends and actually have something to do during the day, yet part of me sits here and dreads leaving my friends and family that I have here. I tell you all this because one of my best friends has really inspired me to write this.... she doesn't know yet :)

What goes through your mind when you hear the term "Missions"? Do you automatically think about going overseas and going to a place that is completely unreached and lost? Most people do. I do. But you know, when the term missions comes up it simply means that we should spread the word to people who are lost and need to hear what we as Christians have to say.

There are people that are definitely called to go overseas and serve as missionaries to foreign lands (my best friend Taylor!) and then there are people like me who have been called to stay here and spread the word of Christ to those I come in contact with everyday.

I have prayed so hard about this topic. About traveling across the world to go to a foreign land and sharing the gospel with lost people of another nation, and you know what? God has literally spoke to me saying that I am needed here and I am going to have a  huge part in bringing Christ back into our nation that has so sadly gone away from him. I am content with this notion. I know that I am going to be a part of something exciting and important to our nation whenever the time comes! God will let me know when that is :) I do believe that I can do things right now, in my daily life that will bring people to Christ or at least let them see that I have something to offer them that can indeed change their lives. I've been called to show the people around me and those that I will come into contact with at a later time in my life, who God is, why it's important they understand what I have to say and that He can give them something that an earthly thing cannot.

Now the opposite...

My best friend Taylor, we instantly bonded after meeting over Twitter... yes you read that right, Twitter. She is one of the most encouraging, honestly, truest, and most faithful friends that I have ever been blessed with! I am so thankful that God has put her in my life, because I know that our friendship will last a lifetime! :) She has been called to go to Uganda, Africa. I am so amazed and so inspired by her want and excitement to do this. She has prayed and prayed over going to this country and has finally gotten the opportunity to live it out. The heart that she has to go overseas and help these kids and lost people is just awe-inspiring and beyond words. She's really taught me a lot since I've known her (she has no idea I'm writing this!). She has the kindest, purest heart as she listens to where God wants to send her. She doesn't argue with his notions, she simply prays, reads, and acts on what she has heard. Taylor I am so beyond thankful for you and all that you have showed me through our friendship! I cannot wait to see where these next few years of college take us as friends! :)

So whether you are called to stay or if you are called to go, pray and act earnestly. God will lead you int eh direction that he wants you to go in. He knows what he wants from you whether it be bringing a tribe of lost people to him or bringing your colleague to him. He has a plan.

I am so excited to be a part of Taylor's life and see how this trip impacts her life and strengthens her faith. I know that she is going to do many more mission trips overseas in her life, and I am blessed that I will be able to be a part of her support group and listen to her encouraging stories.

"And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send and who will go for us?' Then I said, 'Here I am! Send me.'" (Isaiah 6:8)
